What To Do When Your iPhone Will Not Turn On

Many iPhone users have been faced with a situation where their iPhone will not turn on. Fortunately, there are a few things that you can try before you head off to the Apple Store. It is recommended that you try these steps first because they could get your phone to turn on without you having to pay for this to be done for you.

Charging Your iPhone

There are many people who believe that there is something wrong with their phone when it just needs to be charged more. It is recommended that you charge your phone with the wall charger for around 15 minutes before you try any other methods. If the phone does not turn on after the charge, you should check that the charger is working correctly.

Complete A Hard Reset

A hard reset of your iPhone will clean the memory of the phone, but will not affect the storage at all. This method will generally work if you have a problem turning your phone on. You will also not have to worry about losing all of the information and apps on the phone.

If you have an iPhone 7 or newer, you will need to press and hold the volume down and the power button for at least 10 seconds. It is important that these buttons are held down at the same time and it can take up to 20 seconds before you see anything happen. After this amount of time, you should see the Apple logo on the screen and the reset is complete.

If you have an iPhone 6s or older, you will need to hold down the home and the power button for at least 10 seconds. The hard reset on these phones can also take up to 20 seconds to complete. The Apple logo will appear on the screen when the reset has been completed.

Restore Your Phone To The Factory Settings

If you are not having any luck with turning your phone on and you can definitely say that my iPhone won’t turn on, you should try a factory reset. It is important to note that this method will remove all the information and apps that you have on the phone. This is also something that should be done as a last resort before you head to the Apple Store.

To start the factory reset, you need to plug your USB cable into the iPhone. If you have an iPhone 7 or newer, you will then have to hold the volume down button. If you have an iPhone 6s or older, you will need to hold the home button down.

While holding the appropriate button down, you should plug the other end of the USB cable into your computer. iTunes should then be opened on the computer. Your phone should appear in the program and you need to click on it. You should then head to Summary and Restore. Click on restore and the factory reset will start and your phone should turn on after this.
